Intro Series Part 4 - What makes us different? Why come to us?

CatherineStapleton_3This time last year I created a website for Stapleton Consulting. At the time I had the intention of producing interesting updates and sharing information on all things employment related.  As a recent new comer to self-employment, 2017 was a good year for learning and getting work done.  However, 2017 came to an end and I never managed to publish any updates or establish a social media presence.  There are many reasons for this but now that it is 2018, I am not going to let another year go by, particularly when this year is already showing signs of being one of change for the employment landscape, thanks to the Labour Government putting their bill for changing trial periods, rest and meal breaks and union involvement.

In June Stapleton Consulting will be two years old!  So, before I launch into an update and begin blogging about HR tips and tricks, I would like to use my first blog series to answer the questions I often get asked after telling people what I do – Why did you go out on your own? What made you keep doing it? What work do you do? What is HR?  What of kind businesses do you work with?  What services do we offer and how much?

So here goes……Part Four

Part four – What makes Stapleton Consulting different?  What do we stand for?  Why would you come to us for advice?

The team and I, have had the pleasure of working with some inspiring managers and great organisations.  We have also had the unfortunate experience of working in some toxic environments.  This contrast of experiences and interactions during my career has taught us what we need to do to be a respected and relied upon as a Consultant and how we can provide added value to the work we do.

When you meet with me or one of the team, you can vent to your heart’s content and unload.  We do not judge.  We are not the HR police, and we will not tell you off for how badly or wrong you are doing things.  Instead, we bring our expertise and an open mind, and listen, whilst also asking many questions.

Once we have done this we will work with you and your team to clarify what is not running well, reasons why and develop a plan with possible solutions. The plan may even include not doing anything and waiting it out.  So be prepared, we may say things you may not want to hear or go against want you know.

When working with the team at Stapleton Consulting, you can expect:

  • Honest and transparent advice in a way you will understand

We are all about being open and honest with our advice, with a view to the future.  This may include telling you what you don’t want to hear.

  • A partnership for the long term

We want our clients to thrive and have a positive employer reputation in the communities you do business in.  We work to understand the business, the challenges you face and opportunities ahead so the advice we provide is fit for purpose now and for the future.

  • We are resilient and committed to our profession, our clients and our community

HR is not a field for the faint-hearted and we enjoy giving back.  We have the patience, tolerance and empathy to deal with people from all walks of life.  It is not always plain sailing and you can rely on us to be there through thick and thin.  Small steps make big gains over time.

  • We will challenge the status-quo

What we do is our passion.  We don’t do it because we have to, we do this work because we want to, and we want to be the best version of ourselves when doing it.  We strive to deliver solutions and outcomes that are creative, efficient and meaningful.

When it all boils down to it, if you have a situation with your employees or are faced with the prospect of growing your team, or needing to change people’s jobs, then get in contact.

We guide you through the journey ahead and ensure you get it right from the outset.  We enjoy what we do, but we don’t like being ambulance at the bottom of the cliff picking up the pieces.  It just costs you and others too much in time, money and heart-ache.
